What We Value, And Where We Stand

[dropcap type=”2″]A[/dropcap] value is an absolute which can be the basis for ethical action. Values are also considered the foundation upon which integrity is based. Values should be uncompromisable, undebatable truths that directly affect our behavior and provide direction, despite our emotions. At Christ the King Vineyard Church we believe our set of values, and where we stand on them, align with the word of God.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. ~Ephesians 3:20-21

At Christ the King Vineyard Church we believe that God wants to do Far More in us and through us than we can even ask or imagine therefore:

Word Of God

We see God’s Word, the Bible, as the foundation and final authority for all issues relating to the life of faith. We see the Bible as the primary source for belief and practice. We acknowledge that the primary purpose of the Scriptures is to bring us to faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God.

Spiritual Formation

We desire to see people become emotionally and spiritually healthy followers of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we believe that spiritual formation is essential to the Christian life. Spiritual formation is first a work of God’s Holy Spirit in growing us to be the people God created us to be. Our conviction is that as we follow God’s Word and Spirit, He recreates us to better reflect the image of Christ. Spiritual formation always has its goal to learn to follow and obey the teachings and person of Jesus Christ.

Member Mobilization

We believe that God gives each believer distinct gifts, talents, abilities and passions that should be discovered and used to serve Him and others. We believe that spiritual gifts are given to build up the body of Christ and advance His Kingdom on earth. We also believe that discovering and using these gifts brings a deep sense of fulfillment and joy to the life of the Christ follower.

Passionate Faith

We believe that the life of faith is a wholehearted adventure. It involves taking Spirit led risks, deep heart challenges and even waging spiritual warfare. We desire to be people who live naturally supernatural lives, keeping one ear to the sounds of earth and one ear to the sounds of heaven. Moreover, we believe the Gospel of Jesus is a message that should capture the heart and imagination of its hearer and produce a life of vibrant and passionate worship, prayer and service.

Justice And Mercy

We believe the Church should respond compassionately and creatively to the needs that it faces. We should seek to work against injustice and respond with mercy. Therefore, we will strive to keep ourselves aligned with God’s Word and Spirit as we live out the social implications of the Gospel.

Ministry Balance

You could say we are a charismatic, evangelical, social action church. We strive to be a church that holds to Biblical truth, Spirit-empowered ministry and social action. We believe all three must be held onto and lived out in order to be an effective church.

Authenticity And Transparency

We seek to be the kind of people who can say, “What you see is what you get.” However, we acknowledge that because of our sin nature, we tend to hide and conceal who we really are. So we seek to live and communicate truthfully to others and ourselves in ways that are consistent with reality. We will strive to move towards greater openness and self-awareness in our journey towards wholeness in Christ.

Community Of Grace

We are convinced that an environment of grace is the best place for life change to happen. It is by grace that we are saved and it is by grace that we grow in faith. Communities of grace know how to live out the distinction between acceptance and approval. Therefore, every leader will intentionally strive to create environments and relationships of grace throughout the church. Moreover, we believe grace should be offered to all. So we will seek to be a church that demonstrates God’s grace by striving to be a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, socially and economically diverse community of faith.

We believe that knowing God means cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our commitment to this relationship flows out of a deep gratitude for the gift of eternal life and the faith given to us by Him, as well as a desire to live in Him and His word.

We belive that one of the best ways to do so is through authentic, grace-filled fellowship, by simply connecting with those around us and committing to encourage and support each other in our walk with Christ.

We believe the Church should respond compassionately and creatively to the needs that it faces.
Therefore, we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in the community around us and in communities around the world.
